Blok makes over Thornhill Road Park
Blok recently launched their 2nd development in Green Point, SEVENonT, on Thornhill Road. This follows on from their first launch, FOURonC, in Clarens Road, Sea Point in September.
The Green Point apartments cater for professionals and parents of all ages, the proximity to Reddam School and the Green Point Urban Park being a large part of this attraction, and the units are already selling fast.
As part of their commitment to “walk the talk” of positively impacting on their environments, Blok has identified the park that SEVENonT overlooks as an opportunity to work with the City of Cape Town to beautify and maximise its potential.
“We met with the City and were pleasantly surprised at how excited they were to work with us on this project”, says Jacques van Embden, MD of Blok. “Our immediate responsibilities will include all landscaping and purchasing of new play equipment, seating, fencing and such. The City will provide the electricity and lighting needed; there is already running water available, and they will also continue to manage ongoing park maintenance. We want to use this opportunity to encourage all developers to pursue similar relationships with their cities, the symbiosis is obvious and the benefits significant and sustainable.”

This project begins in September 2015, and the completion date is estimated to be during December 2015 when SEVENonT is completed.
The Park project speaks to Blok’s commitment to have a lasting positive impact on the neighbourhoods in which it develops. As part of this initiative they have also committed to ongoing donations to the License Plate Recognition Program and local Ratepayers’ Associations.
