The Blok is getting bigger
SIXTY6onK in Kloof Road, Sea Point, is the latest address for Blok, the urban development company bringing city apartment living to Cape Town, one off-plan development at a time. SIXTY6onK is the 5th Blok project that has launched since September 2014, and the second that caters predominantly to families due to the focus on three-bedroomed apartments that the building has. The proximity to so many good schools and parks, as well as the nearby shops and amenities make Kloof Road a highly desirable and convenient location for parents, and with this in mind SIXTY6onK is designed with a mix of 2 and 3 bed-units. Out of the 13 apartments, 3 are 3-bed penthouses, 3 are 2-beds and the remaining 7 are 3-bed apartments. A communal pool deck will mean that apartment living won’t mean sacrificing on time spent outdoors, but with Lion’s Head and Signal Hill as the first thing you see when you step outside, why would it? The site offered WAUW, the architects behind the breathtaking Blok designs, a unique challenge in that the plot size meant some creative planning was required in order to maximize the allocated space and ensure each apartment is as expansive and comfortable as possible. The solution was to design the building in two distinct parts. The one being far more grounded and aligned with the street (lower 4 levels), and the top (5th – 7th) floors aligned with the boundary edges and twisted to fit the surrounding context, but with a far lighter, floating feel. The majestic tree at the front of the property has also influenced the warm grey, brown and beige colour scheme, courtesy of Megan Bond and WAUW, the designers that put TWELVEonV, Blok’s now sold-out Bantry Bay project, together. “Blok was born of a need to drive city living, and that applies to all demographics. We recognize that there may be challenges in raising children in an apartment, and with SIXTY6onK we are confident that we’re proving that city living with kids is an option for parents wanting to live in the city, close to work and play.” SIXTY6onK construction begins in early 2016, with occupation set from 1st April 2017. Beyond the front door, Blok has undertaken to make a lasting and meaningful contribution to the neighbourhoods in which it develops. By getting involved in Crime ‘n Grime initiatives as well as upliftment projects that benefit not only Blok owners, but their neighbours.
With sales to date of R925m+, as well as successful urban intervention projects including the installation of the Blade bicycle parking system on the Sea Point Promenade and Thornhill Park revamp in Greenpoint opposite their SEVENONT development, amongst others; Blok is no longer the newcomer in the property scene, but a serious contender that is making waves with their urban focus and community ethos.
